Not so known to public this kind of condition, it is called Middle Child Syndrome. Questions may raised regarding this matter, is this real? Is there such condition? The answer is Yes according to research. This condition may be developed in any birth order of a child between the eldest and the youngest.
On a recent talk show that I've watched discussing the topic of a Middle Child Syndrome it opened my mind about this condition which proves that it really exist. They've invited a guest who has a personal experienced about this condition. He is 3rd to the eldest and there were 4 of them siblings. When their parents introduce them to visitors, the eldest gets a good introduction to their parents, then comes the second to the eldest a woman who has a good achievements in school and graduated with honors , then comes him being introduce only with his name it's a small thing but creates a big impact not being praised by parents. He also mentioned when his younger brother graduated, their father gave a car to his younger brother compared when he graduated and receives nothing.
Middle child gets neglected since the attention of the parents are focused on the eldest and the youngest of the siblings. The eldest are expected to excel and the youngest gets pampered, while the middle child don't get much attention. Some people even in their 30's or 40's still experience the lack of attention. Most parents will say they have no favoritism with their children but the truth is, probably they are not aware or they won't admit.
There are some negative and positive instances being a middle child. In the negative side some middle children are involved in vices, getting addicted with alcohol and drugs due to negligence and tries to seek attention from others. The positive side, some middle children are independent on their own, others are very successful, excels in a lot of things and because they are less supervised less pressure on their part. They have freedom to do what they want which makes some of them a creative kind of a person.
This is an interesting topic to discuss but it's also sad that some people experienced this unfortunate disposition in the family.
My thoughts on this matter, it may exist somehow however it also depends on the upbringing within the parents side and the environment a person is being exposed to.
